# Turn on in-system review (or finish in Word), and other lifecycle options

Audience: admin

Turn the optional Team and Review stages on or off, and preview the lifecycle before you save.

Every new organization starts with both optional lifecycle stages off:
proposals skip the Team step, and finish by downloading a `.docx` and
completing the workflow in Word. Organization Admin or Admin can turn either
on from Settings, with a live preview of what changes.

:::checklist title="What you'll do"
- Turn the Team step on or off
- Turn in-system review on or off, or leave it for later
- See the resulting lifecycle in the live preview before you save

## The two toggles

:::

Open **Lifecycle**, under Settings.

:::note title="Show the Team step in the proposal lifecycle"
"When enabled, the Setup phase includes a Team step where users can review
AI-suggested team members and assign reviewers. When disabled, the lifecycle
skips this step and proposals are created without a team assignment.
Default: off."
:::

:::note title="Use the in-system review and approval workflow"
"When enabled, proposals move through EngiProse's review pane: reviewers add
inline comments and tracked changes, an approver locks the document, and
downloads happen after approval. When disabled, proposals skip in-system
review entirely: your team generates and edits in EngiProse, downloads the
.docx, and finishes the workflow in Word. You can turn this on later when
your team is ready. Default: off."
:::

"Turning this off hides the Send and Reviewer stages from new proposals
going forward. Proposals already in those stages keep their progress."

## Live preview

The **Live preview** card below the toggles shows the lifecycle stages your
team will actually see, updating as you flip either switch, before you
commit anything. Nothing changes until you click **Save**.

::::faq title="Common questions"
:::q question="Do I have to turn on review right away?"
No. Both stages are optional and off by default. Many firms start with
review off and turn it on once their team is ready for in-system
collaboration.
:::
:::q question="What happens to a proposal already in Send or Reviewer if I turn review off?"
It keeps its progress. Turning review off only changes new proposals going
forward.
